As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) rises, the need for sustainable charging infrastructure is becoming critical. Integrating solar power with EV charging stations presents a promising solution, combining clean energy generation with efficient charging for a lower environmental impact. Recent survey studies highlight advances in photovoltaic (PV) technologies, energy storage systems, and smart grid connectivity that are reshaping EV charging infrastructure. Solar-powered EV stations reduce dependency on grid power, lower operational costs, and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Optimized energy management systems and real-time monitoring allow for efficient charging cycles, mitigating issues of intermittency from solar energy and peak load demands. Additionally, advancements in bidirectional charging technology and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) integration are enabling EVs to serve as mobile energy storage units, further stabilizing the grid.The research indicates significant strides toward fully sustainable EV charging solutions, while challenges remain in terms of high setup costs, site selection, and storage limitations. Continued innovation and supportive policies are crucial for widespread adoption and development of solar-integrated EV charging stations. However, several challenges remain, including optimizing energy conversion efficiency, minimizing infrastructure costs, and developing standardized frameworks for solar-EV charging interoperability. Current research highlights innovative charging configurations, load optimization strategies, and energy storage solutions that allow for more flexible and reliable energy management. This study contributes to the field by providing insights into the most promising approaches and proposing future directions to enhance the sustainability and accessibility of EV charging stations powered by solar energy.
