Abstract: The primary cause of motor vehicle accidents is driver drowsiness This project illustrates a surveillance system designed to identify and notify the vehicle driver of any signs of drowsiness. To deploy the Human Computer Interaction System, a smart phone-like tiny computer with a mobile application running on the Android operating system is employed. The most important visual signs that indicate the driver's condition for detecting tiredness are the behavior of the eyes and position of the head. The device functions properly in natural illumination and regardless of whether the driver wears glasses, hearing aids, or a cap. Due to the high number of traffic accidents that occur when a driver falls asleep, this idea was created to prevent them by providing a non-invasive system that is simple to use and does not require the purchase of specialized instruments. The approach detects tiredness in 93.37% of cases. The goal of this work is to develop a surveillance system for vehicular drivers based on computer vision approaches and implemented in a smart phone to detect and alarm when the driver exhibits indicators of tiredness. To achieve this goal, other research on detecting tiredness in drivers, drowsiness symptoms in vehicle drivers, and identifying technical characteristics and algorithms that allow the processing of drowsiness signals were reviewed. In this paper, we show a created sleepiness detection algorithm, the interface that displays the level of drowsiness, and the necessary adjustments to ensure that the implemented system works well.
