Abstract

Abstract: Transformer is one of the vital components of electrical power system. For reliable electrical power transfer, transformer has to withstand various electrical, mechanical, dielectric and thermal stresses in normal and abnormal conditions in its life time. All these stresses occur due to various electrical faults. In those short circuit is the most severe fault. This paper discusses the need for Short circuit testing and testing procedure on transformer using generator as a source and difficulties involved in it.
